Located in the Neoclassical Bishop’s Palace, the Museu Diocesà, founded in 1896, keeps a magnificent collection of items of archaeology and works of art covering practically every period in history from the Neolithic on.
The medieval period is without a doubt where the exhibition excels, as it includes Pre-Romanesque and Romanesque murals and large works in what is known as the 1200 Gothic style, like the monumental tomb of Sant Pau de Casserres, the Last Supper, by Pere Teixidor, and the murals by Pere Serra and Lluís Borrassà.
There is an important exhibition of Renaissance and Baroque objects of liturgical art and altarpieces.
In summer it can be visited from Tuesday to Saturday (10 am to 1 pm and 4.30 pm to 7 pm) and Sundays and holidays (10 am to 2 pm), and in winter from Tuesday to Saturday (10 am to 1 pm and 4 pm to 6 pm).
